HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL :

The school is managed by the Society of Daughters of Mary Immaculate and Collaborators Trust, A registered society for the case of charitable purpose and education. The school was established in the year 1988 in Perambakkam, Tiruvallur District. By our chairman and founder Rev. Fr. Dr. J.E.Arul Raj in Perambakkam, Tiruvallur District. This school is situated near Perambakkam bus stand on Poonamallee – Arakonam Highway. It has classes from Pre.K.G to X STD up to 2003, and from 2004 -2005 it was converted from high school to higher secondary with four groups with English as medium of instruction. Tamil and Hindi are offered as second language and it was compulsory STD III onwards.

Service to the poor people is the service to God, according to this golden words, our DMI community was established in 1984 at Perambakkam, Tiruvallur District. We built a house and were blessed by Most. Rev.Dr. Casmeer. It was named as “Anand Bhavan. By the grace of God we have been well blessed to this stage. With making there a Condiments Store later developed into a textile store. We had more chance to know more people with our words and deeds. Locality seeing our deeds and dedication, had suggested starting a school.

In order to fulfill the most essential needs of the people of the children of the poor, “Anand Vidhyalaya” was begun in a thatched roof, with 64 students and 4 teachers in the year 1988. The hard work of the sisters started to remove the darkness of ignorance. Then the name of the school was changed as St. Mary’s as it stands today.

Education has been the most important duty of our religion. We give more emphasis on it. The education in our school has not been imparted from its lexical meaning, but from its functional meaning. We give education to the poor people who deserve it most. With our hard work and dedication towards the rural people and their children, year by year admissions increased. In spite of many hindrances in managing an educational institute in a rural area with the co-operation of the people who stand with us in our cause, we carry on our duty towards the human race.
